The Software Engineering Process Management (SEPM) Program at the SEI provides leadership to software-dependent organizations through proven, process-focused methods for improving product costs, schedule and quality. This program also manages the SEI’s work on the internationally recognized Capability Maturity Model Integration, a framework that helps organizations improve their processes enterprisewide.

The program researches and develops management products and services that help organizations worldwide continuously improve the performance of their processes in the areas of product and service development, maintenance, and acquisition.

The initiatives in this program provide tools and methods that enable organizations to improve the performance of their development and acquisition processes. 

The SEPM Program also works with various standards communities to ensure that relevant standards and the SEPM's products and services align as closely as possible.
