Derrick H. Karimi began working for the SEI Innovation Center in March 2012 as a Software Developer. Karimi brings with him 13 years of development experience which were mainly focused in C and C++, in the industries of Engineering and Geospatial Imagery. Educated at Georgia Tech, Karimi received Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Science with a specialization in Graphics and Visualization. During this time Karimi worked for the Georgia Tech Research Institute on the original 3D Globe implementation. After leaving Georgia Tech, Karimi worked with a Structural Engineering firm designing software that allowed rapid design and analysis of roofing systems. Most recently Karimi was working on the premier Remote Sensing and Geospatial Image processing software in the market. There, Karimi focused on Software Architecture, Algorithms, Interoperability, and Distributed Processing. Karimi's unique background in data processing, visualization and an understanding of computer and software architecture make him a valuable resource for the SEI.
