Technical Director, DIID
Mr. Richard Nolan is the Technical Director of CERT's Digital Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (DIID) at the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute. He is also an adjunct faculty professor at the Information Networking Institute of Carnegie Mellon CyLab.
Prior to joining CMU SEI, Mr. Nolan served as a special agent with the United States Department of Justice for seven years. During his tenure, Mr. Nolan specialized in internet-based investigations and conducted some of the then largest internet based investigations. He has extensive experience dealing with the unique legal elements related to collecting, seizing, and preparing electronic data.
Mr. Nolan holds a BS and a MS in Education from Duquesne University and is also a graduate of the FBI Academy. He is a member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association.
