Professional Background

Mr. Charles J. Ryan has over 30 years of software and systems acquisition experience and over 19 years of process improvement and appraisal experience. Mr. Ryan started his career in the U.S. Air Force in the field of embedded software and systems acquisition. His management experience includes USAF systems acquisition and program management, and he was a prior Director of the SEI's Joint Program Office, Mr. Ryan joined the SEI in 1996 as the SEI liaison to Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom Air Force Base, and has done a number of acquisition related appraisals. He is currently a core member of the Appraisal Team in the SEI's Software Engineering Process Management Program. He is a High Maturity SCAMPI Lead Appraiser, a SCAMPI with People CMM Lead Appraiser, an instructor for all three SCAMPI Lead Appraiser Courses, and an authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraiser Observer.
