David Thompson

Director of Information Technology and Security

Key Responsibilities

As Director of Information Technology and Security at the SEI, Thompson is responsible for crafting technology, information assurance, and industrial security strategies in support of the SEI’s program plans, and for developing operational structures to execute those strategies. His department is tasked with providing to the SEI a technology infrastructure that is current, reliable, and secure, and with ensuring that the SEI satisfies its industrial security requirements as a government contractor. 

Professional Background

Prior to joining the SEI in 2004, Thompson worked for Fidelity Information Services (formerly ALLTEL Information Services), a provider of managed operations and IT services to Fortune 500 companies. At FIS, he held a variety of leadership positions, ending his tenure as the head of the Technology Services Group at one of Fidelity's three North American data centers. His group provided to Fidelity's customers a range of services, including data center management, systems engineering and administration, information assurance and incident response, change management, database design and administration, data storage management, and capacity and performance planning.

Thompson has over 20 years of experience in IT operations, information security, and data center administration.

Professional Memberships and Education

Thompson is a member of AFCEA, IEEE, and ACM. He received his BA from Cedarville University and his MA from the University of Dayton.
