Professional Background
Steve is the Competency Development Manager for the CMMI Appraisal Team. He is a SEI-certified SCAMPI High Maturity Lead Appraiser who has led over 30 CMMI/SW-CMM appraisals. Steve has taken the lead in developing the strategy for competency acquisition and evaluation for candidate SCAMPI Lead Appraisers and SCAMPI B and C Team Leaders. He was the project manager for the development of the SCAMPI Lead Appraiser Body of Knowledge (SLA BOK)" as well as a co-author of CMMI-Based Professional Certifications: The Competency Lifecycle Framework. Steve has played a pivotal role in the development of SEI process appraisal methodologies, including co-authoring CMM Appraisal Framework, Version 1.0, CMM-Based Appraisal for Internal Process Improvement (CBA IPI): Method Description, and SCAMPI A V1.2 Method Definition Document. He is currently a core team member of the SCAMPI Upgrade Team which is chartered to improve the SCAMPI A methodology based on feedback from the field. Steve is an instructor for the Introduction to CMMI, the Intermediate Concepts of CMMI, the SCAMPI Lead Appraiser Training (SLAT), and the SCAMPI B and C Team Leader Training (STLT) courses. In addition, he is a Qualified Observing Lead Appraiser for candidate SCAMPI Lead Appraisers and an observer for Intro to CMMI as well as for Intermediate Concepts of CMMI, SLAT, and STLT candidate instructors. Steve has been Conference Chair for all five CMMI Workshops for SCAMPI Lead Appraiser and CMMI Instructors.
