Reporting Appraisal Results
SEI-authorized Lead Appraisers report the results of the appraisals they conduct to the CMMI® steward—the SEI. Results are used for quality assurance activities and transition tracking, and are reported (in aggregate) to the community in a semi-annually published Process Maturity Profile. All appraisal results reported to the SEI must be in English.
Appraisals are reported to the SEI using the SEI Appraisal System (SAS). You will access SAS through your Web browser at http://sas.sei.cmu.edu.
All appraisers, team members, and sponsors must register with SAS. Select the register button located on the left sidebar menu. It is located just below Login and Password fields.
Lead appraisers and team leaders must be invited to register as authorized appraisers with SAS. A temporary username and password will have been sent. These will be issued to candidates on completion of the SCAMPI Lead Appraiser Training (SLAT) or SCAMPI B & C Team Leader Training (STLT) Class.
The registration screen offers three choices for registration. Lead Appraisers choose the first one entitled, Team Lead/Other Special Register. Team members and sponsors choose their respective forms.
On the registration screen, you must enter the temporary username and password where indicated and press continue. This temporary username and password is used only once while you set up your account.
Team members and sponsors may simply select register and fill in their user account information.
When you have completed entering your account information, press the register button. You will see a message in red indicating that you have registered with the system and that an email will be sent to you for confirmation. You must open the email sent to you by SAS and click on the link provided to confirm your registration. Once this is complete, you will have access to SAS.
To Use the New System
You will access the SEI Appraisal System (SAS) through a Web browser by entering the SAS site at http://sas.sei.cmu.edu. This will access the SAS main page.
The left sidebar menu contains a place to enter your username and password set up during the registration process. They are NOT the temporary username and password sent to you via email. Enter username and password and click login.
You will enter your private appraisal space in SAS. The left sidebar menu will display selections for My Appraisals, My Account, News, System FAQ, Discussion, Support, and Features Request.
You may explore the system freely. No data will be submitted to the SEI until you purposefully select submit. Should you submit an appraisal in error, send email to SAS-appraisals@sei.cmu.edu to have it reopened or deleted.
