Submission Guidelines for SATURN Presentation and Tutorial
Proposals
All participants are encouraged to submit a proposal,
including a title and an abstract, for a 20-minute presentation about their
work and its relation to software architecture technology. We are especially
interested in presentations regarding the following topics:
- case studies and lessons learned in applying SEI software
architecture technology
- efforts to improve the state of architectural practices across an
organization
- the relationship of enterprise and software architecture
- future directions in software architecture technology
- evolving an architecture parallel to business and mission goals
- the relationship of software and system architecture
- the value or ROI of software architecture practices
We encourage you to address some of these questions
in your presentation:
- When you're following your current architecture practices, what
is particularly hard to do? Why?
- How is your organization currently using architecture? What
lessons have you learned from your experience? What advice would you give to
other architects?
- How do you get the information you need about software
architecture? What would a good course or book on software architecture cover?
What would an effective Web site look like?
- What research is needed to make progress in the field? What new
methods would you like to see created? How do we improve the technology base?
How do we package technology for greater impact?
We also invite submissions to present half-day
(three-hour) tutorials on advanced-topics ranging from practical techniques,
guidelines, standards, and surveys to theoretical issues related to software
architecture. Tutorials are intended to provide independent instruction on a
topic of relevance to software architecture. Therefore, no commercial or
sales-oriented presentations will be accepted.
Proposals for both presentations and tutorials are
due by December 7, 2007. Authors of selected proposals will be
notified by January 18, 2008. Submissions should be no longer
than two pages and include a title, brief biographies of the presenters, and
the abstract of the presentation or tutorial not to exceed 500 words. For
tutorial submissions please also include an outline of the tutorial. For all
selected presentations, submitters grant the SEI permission to reproduce the
abstract and full presentation on the SATURN Web site. Presenters are
responsible for ensuring that all submissions are cleared for public
release.
