Software Acquisition Improvement
Model Description | Framework | Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The goal of the software acquisition improvement effort at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) is to lead the community to establish processes and practices that are self sustained and continuously improving. The management aspects of this effort concentrate on the collection of processes, practices and methods that acquisition offices will use in acquiring software products and services.
The foundation for the effort is the Software Acquisition Capability Maturity Model® (SA-CMM®), and its product suite of training and the use of SEI developed appraisal methodologies.
This product suite includes guidebooks for key process areas described in the SA-CMM and a Software Acquisition Improvement Framework. Central to this Framework is a repository intended to provide the acquisition manager with a set of policies, process descriptions, practices and methods to support better management his or her acquisition project.
