Transition Issues
|
Lesson T1: Transition to COTS products must take into account transition of business processes as well. COTS products will rarely allow end users to continue with their business processes exactly as they have always practiced them. Some BPR may well be necessary. This will be a factor in successfully changing them over from use of the old system to effective use of the new. |

Lesson T2: Transition to COTS products will affect education and training needs. For users to effectively adopt the new COTS-based system, they must have appropriate training on the COTS products. In addition, every change (upgrade) of a COTS product in the system has the potential for affecting the training and documentation needs. |
