TSP Coach Update: Transition to Certification
July 2007
The SEI, in conjunction with the TSP community, is transitioning from an authorization process to a certification process for TSP Coaches. The move to certification is scheduled to begin in September 2007. Certification details and transition requirements will be made available soon. This change will address TSP community needs including:
- improving TSP team performance
- removing barriers to TSP implementation
- standardization of TSP Coach accreditation
- recognition for TSP Coaches
Major components of the certification program include a revised TSP Coach written exam, to be completed after TSP Coach Training. The content of the new exam is based, in part, on the TSP Coach Job Analysis study completed in August 2006. The exam has been constructed following industry standards for exam validation. All currently authorized coaches must now successfully complete this exam as a requirement for certification.
Another component will be modifications to the qualification track for new candidate coaches and improved processes to increase the efficiency of TSP Coaches in their organizations. Improved elements and best practices are incorporated to further encourage the growth of the TSP methodology.
