Sunsetting Version 1.1 of the CMMI Product Suite
September 1, 2006
The sunsetting period for CMMI version 1.1 began on August 25, 2006. To allow the user community a reasonable amount of time to upgrade to v1.2, a measured approach will be used for retiring training and appraisal materials, with the sunset period ending on August 31, 2007.
Training Courses
- Introduction to CMMI, Staged and Continuous, v1.1 training will sunset on December 31, 2006. Beginning in 2007, the newly released v1.2 course materials will be the only Introduction to CMMI course recognized by the SEI.
- The upgrade training for the v1.2 Introduction to CMMI course is available to Introduction to CMMI Instructors, SCAMPI Lead AppraisersSM, SCAMPI B and C Team Leaders, and previous attendees of the Introduction to CMMI courses. For more information about upgrade training, see the CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training and CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training for Instructors, Lead Appraisers, and Team Leaders course descriptions.
Appraisals
- SCAMPI appraisals with their on-site period beginning after August 31, 2007 will be valid and accepted only if they are conducted with a v1.2 CMMI model and the v1.2 SCAMPI method.
- During the sunset period, appraisals using a mix of the v1.1 and 1.2 CMMI models and SCAMPI appraisal method will be accepted as valid. Any appraisal using either the v1.1 model or the v1.1 method is considered a v1.1 appraisal.
- The Appraisal Disclosure Statement (ADS) has been expanded significantly to provide more insight into an appraisal. Any SCAMPI appraisal, whether v1.1 or v1.2, starting on or after November 1, 2006, is required to use the v1.2 ADS.
Note: With the release of the version 1.2 CMMI Product Suite, several new SCAMPI policies also were introduced.
