CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training Available at the End of August
August 16, 2006
CMMI version 1.2 is scheduled to be released on August 25, 2006. The release of CMMI version 1.2 includes improvements to all parts of the CMMI Product Suite in response to issues that have emerged in practice. The changes focus on improving the quality of CMMI products and the consistency of how they are applied. The improvements to CMMI v1.2 will do the following:
- increase confidence in and usefulness of appraisal results
- reduce model complexity and size
- expand model coverage
For more detail about these changes, see Details of Changes to CMMI in Version 1.2.
To prepare CMMI users for these improvements, the CMMI Project has created online CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Training. This online training gives users a convenient way to understand the changes and improvements made to the CMMI Product Suite as part of version 1.2. This training will help users make the transition from CMMI v1.1 to v1.2 as it includes details on how the CMMI model has changed, how the SCAMPI appraisal method changes will help to improve the integrity of appraisals, and how the training courses themselves have been improved. The upgrade training materials are designed to not only provide insight into the differences between v1.1 and v1.2, but they also provide refresher materials on important CMMI concepts.
This training is required for anyone who has previously completed an SEI-authorized Introduction to CMMI course (staged, continuous, or staged and continuous) and plans to attend Intermediate Concepts of CMMI version 1.2, CMMI version 1.2 Instructor Training, SCAMPI Lead Appraiser version 1.2 Training, or SCAMPI B and C Team Leader version 1.2 Training. This upgrade training, or the v1.2 Introduction to CMMI course, is also required for anyone who will be an appraisal team member on a SCAMPI version 1.2 appraisal. The CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Training will be available at the end of August. To find out more about this training, see CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training.
If you are a SCAMPI Lead Appraiser, Team Leader, or CMMI Instructor, you need to take the CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training for Instructors, Lead Appraisers, and Team Leaders.
