CMMI Product Team
Purpose
The purpose of the Product Team is to recommend and implement changes to the CMMI Product Suite.
Membership
The Product Team is composed of integrated teams that perform different functions, yet coordinate their efforts toward the objective of maintaining the CMMI Product Suite. These teams currently include the Framework Architecture and Model Enhancement (FRAME) Team, Assessment Method Integration Team (AMIT), Coordination Team, Transition Team, Training Team, Implementation and Product Team, Standards Compliance Team, Test and Evaluation Team, and the Acquisition Discipline Team. Members of these teams represent CMMI stakeholders from industry, government, and the Software Engineering Institute (SEI).
Operation
The Product Team consists of members who have in-depth knowledge of CMMI products and who represent stakeholder organizations. The product team analyzes change requests, develops recommendations to be approved by the change control board (CCB), and implements changes approved by the CCB. The work of the Product Team is led by the Project Manager, and guided by the CMMI Steering Group and the feedback it receives from CMMI product users and reviewers. This feedback can take the form of written comments during courses and workshops, public review of products, and pilot assessments.
The FRAME Team is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the CMMI Framework architecture as well as the content of CMMI models.
The AMIT is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Assessment Requirements for CMMI (ARC) and the Standard CMMI Assessment Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPISM) method as well as investigating assessment issues and recommending ways to address those issues.
The Training Team is responsible for developing and maintaining a training strategy as well as maintaining and enhancing the Introduction to CMMI training courses.
The Implementation and Product Team is responsible for incorporating changes implemented by the various teams into the CMMI Framework. This team is also responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of CMMI products.
The Coordination Team is responsible for ensuring that all of the Product Team's subteams work together as appropriate to guarantee an integrated product suite.
The Transition Team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing transition products that will help potential CMMI Product Suite users to adopt and use CMMI products. Transition products include workshops, the CMMI Web site, and other communication and events.
The Test and Evaluation Team is responsible for gathering measures from assessments and process improvement uses of CMMI products. These measures are then analyzed to make determinations about the use of CMMI products.
The Acquisition Discipline Team is responsible for supporting the incorporation of the acquisition discipline into the CMMI Product Suite.
The Standards Compliance Team ensures conformance of CMMI work products across relevant national, international, DoD, and Industry standards, as requested by the Steering Group.
