To be a Lead Appraiser on SCAMPI v1.2 appraisals, you must already be an SEI-Authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraiser and complete the following requirements:
- take the CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training for Instructors, Lead Appraisers, and Team Leaders
- successfully complete the CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Examination
- attend a SCAMPI v1.2 Lead Appraiser Face-to-Face Meeting

To be an SEI-Authorized Introduction to CMMI Instructor for v1.2 classes, you must already be an SEI-Authorized Introduction to CMMI Instructor and must complete the following requirements:
- take the CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training for Instructors, Lead Appraisers, and Team Leaders
- successfully complete the CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Examination

I am currently an SEI-Authorized SCAMPI B and C Team Leader. What are the requirements to upgrade to v1.2?
To be a Team Leader on SCAMPI v1.2 B and C appraisals, you must already be an SEI-Authorized SCAMPI Team Leader and complete the following requirements:
- take the CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training for Instructors, Lead Appraisers, and Team Leaders
- successfully complete the CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Examination

How do I register for the CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training for Instructors, Lead Appraisers, and Team Leaders?
The CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training for Instructors, Lead Appraisers, and Team Leaders is only available to SEI Authorized Instructors, SCAMPI Lead Appraisers, and SCAMPI B and C Team Leaders. Authorized individuals can register for the course through the Partner Resource Center.

Will SEI Authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraisers/Team Leaders be able to conduct CMMI v1.2 appraisals before taking the CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Training?
No. SCAMPI Lead Appraisers must complete CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Training, pass the CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Exam, and attend the Face-to-Face Workshop before conducting CMMI v1.2 Appraisals. SCAMPI Team Leaders must complete the CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Training and pass the CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Exam before conducting CMMI v1.2 appraisals.

What is the last date a SCAMPI v1.1 appraisal can be performed?
SCAMPI v1.1 appraisals cannot have their on-site period begin after August 31, 2007. During the sunset period, appraisals using a mix of the v1.1 and 1.2 CMMI models and SCAMPI appraisal method will be accepted as valid. Any appraisal using either the v1.1 model or the v1.1 method is considered a v1.1 appraisal. Any SCAMPI appraisal, whether v1.1 or v1.2, with its on-site period beginning on or after November 1, 2006, must use the v1.2 ADS.

How long will CMMI v1.1 appraisal results be valid?
Version 1.1 SCAMPI Class A appraisals will expire August 31, 2007 or three years after their appraisal end date, whichever is later.

Are there any mini-update appraisals to upgrade a SCAMPI v1.1 appraisal to a SCAMPI v1.2 appraisal (model or method)?
No. A complete SCAMPI v1.2 appraisal, with the CMMI v1.2 model and SCAMPI v1.2 method, must be completed.

What is the last date CMMI Instructors can deliver Introduction to CMMI (v1.1)?
The Introduction to CMMI (v1.1) course will no longer be recognized as a valid course if delivered after December 31, 2006. Beginning in 2007, the Introduction to CMMI Version 1.2 course will be the only Introduction to CMMI course recognized by the SEI.

If a CMMI Instructor, SCAMPI Lead Appraiser, or Team Leader does not upgrade, when do they lose their authorization?
CMMI Instructors, SCAMPI Lead Appraisers, and Team Leaders who do not upgrade will become inactive on the following dates: December 31, 2006 for instructors, and September 1, 2007 for Lead Appraisers and Team Leaders. There will be a six-month grace period to reactivate. After the six-month grace period, they will no longer be SEI-authorized.

When and where will CMMI Instructors, SCAMPI Lead Appraisers, or Team Leaders be able to take CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Training and the CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Exam?
The course is currently online and self-paced. People can take the course anywhere with an Internet connection and at any time.
The CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Examination will be offered through a variety of delivery methods, which include testing centers, SEI facilities, and scheduled conferences and events. How many times can a person take the CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Exam?
Each participant can take the exam up to a total of three times; however, after failing the exam the second time participants must, at their own expense, attend a remediation training session conducted by the SEI. Only after attending this session can participants take the exam for the third time.

When and where will SCAMPI Lead Appraisers be able to take the Face-to-Face Workshop?

Are SCAMPI Lead Appraisers required to take the CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Training and Exam before the Face-to-Face workshop?
Yes. Lead Appraisers must complete the training and take the exam before the workshop, but they do not have to pass the exam. If they fail the exam before the workshop, they will be allowed to attend the workshop, but they will have to pass the exam at a later date to complete the upgrade.

As an SEI-authorized Introduction to CMMI Instructor Candidate, SCAMPI Lead Appraiser Candidate, or SCAMPI B and C Team Leader Candidate, how do I upgrade to CMMI v1.2?
As a candidate who has taken the CMMI Instructor Training (v1.1) or SCAMPI (v1.1) course, you are eligible for the CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training for Instructors, Lead Appraisers, and Team Leaders and the CMMI v1.2 Upgrade Examination. Candidate appraisers also must attend the SCAMPI v1.2 Lead Appraiser Face-to-Face Meeting. After fulfilling these requirements you will be able to complete the authorization process and be authorized to use CMMI v1.2.
As a candidate who has taken Intermediate Concepts of CMMI (v1.1), but will be taking CMMI v1.2 Instructor Training or SCAMPI v1.2 course, you must successfully complete CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training before taking the Instructor Training or SCAMPI Training course.

If I am a SCAMPI Lead Appraiser and a CMMI Instructor, which exam should I take with the upgrade to CMMI v1.2?
If you are a SCAMPI Lead Appraiser and a CMMI Instructor, register for the Instructor exam because it satisfies both requirements.

No. The CMMI v1.2 upgrade material specific to instructors and appraisers will be taught in these CMMI v1.2 advanced courses.
