This webpage was compiled to serve those of you who are familiar with CMMI-DEV, V1.3 to help familiarize you with CMMI-ACQ. Perhaps you’ve attended Introduction to CMMI for Development training and are now taking the CMMI for Acquisition Supplement course.
Below you will find links to comparison documents (i.e., redlines) of core process areas (PAs) where such comparisons increase understanding of what is common and what is different. Notice that the majority of the differences between CMMI-ACQ and CMMI-DEV are in the informative material. Remember that there are other PAs in the CMMI-ACQ model do not appear in other CMMI models.
When thinking about which CMMI model to use, remember that CMMI-ACQ is designed for use by an acquiring organization. Where appropriate, the CMMI-ACQ model points out when the use of CMMI-DEV can be more beneficial.
