As CMMI is adopted throughout the world, the demand for translations of CMMI materials from English into other languages is growing. This Web page will provide information about the SEI-sanctioned translations available for your use. As more translations become available, information about them will be added to this page.

Translations Currently Available

Translations of components of the CMMI Product Suite into the following languages are currently available:

The Japanese language translation of v1.2 is sponsored by the Information-Technology Promotion Agency (IPA), an independent administrative agency funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan (METI). The translation was performed by the Japan Software Process Improvement Consortium (JASPIC) and verified by an independent quality assurance team led by So Norimatsu of Norimatsu Process Engineering Laboratory. A translation of the CMMI for Development model is now available. (You will need Japanese fonts to view these pages, but not the models.) Also, a translation of the Introduction to CMMI Version 1.2 course is available to authorized instructors.

The Traditional Chinese language translation of v1.2 is sponsored by the Institute for Information Industry (III), a non-profit organization primarily funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan. The translation was performed by the Information Engineering Institute (IEI) of the III and verified by an independent quality assurance team led by Chaw-Kwei Hung. A translation of CMMI models is now available. Other components of the CMMI Product Suite will be available at a later date. (You will need Chinese fonts that support Big5 encoding to view these pages, but not the models.)

The Japanese language translation of v1.1 is sponsored by the Information-Technology Promotion Agency (IPA), an independent administrative agency funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan (METI). The translation was performed by the Japan Software Process Improvement Consortium (JASPIC) and verified by an independent quality assurance team led by Yoshihiro Akiyama of IBM Japan. A translation of CMMI models is available. (You will need Japanese fonts to view these pages, but not the models.)

Translations Suggested

At the SEI we track the suggestions we receive from CMMI users for particular translations. Since the release of CMMI we have received requests for translation of CMMI models into the following languages. However, there are currently no agreements to develop these translations.

If you are interested in sponsoring the translation of CMMI materials into one of these languages, see the section below for more information.

Translation Sponsors Apply Here

To develop a translation, the SEI collaborates with an organization that sponsors the translation. The translation sponsor provides resources to accomplish the translation and to independently verify the translation. The SEI prefers to work with government or non-profit organizations as translation sponsors. If you are interested in exploring a translation project with the SEI, please contact the SEI Partner Network at partner-info@sei.cmu.edu.
