An SEI Affiliate Opportunity
Team: International Process Research Consortium (IPRC): Improving Processes in Small Settings (IPSS)
Team leader: Caroline Graettinger
Summary of Opportunity
The International Process Research Consortium (IPRC) is a forum for leaders in software and systems process to jointly explore tomorrow's opportunities. The forum includes members from around the world and meets regularly with experts from various influencing disciplines, exploring the process implications of emerging technological, societal, environmental, political, economic, and business trends.
In 2007, the IPRC launched its first in a series of research projects to address high priority needs with long-term, international relevance in industry and government. The Improving Processes in Small Settings (IPSS) research initiative will study process improvement for organizations that rely on small businesses, groups, or projects in their software and systems development chain.
This initiative improves the transition of effective practices into small settings. Unlike previous efforts that focused on process improvement at the enterprise or global level, the IPSS project looks at the context of processes and process improvement at more local levels and develops guidance for success in small setting process improvement.
