Contract Changes/Updates Supporting Release of CMMI® for Development, v1.2

This message is to serve as formal notification that the Software Engineering Institute will be issuing new CMMI Product Suite License agreements. The new license agreements will support use of CMMI® for Development, v1.2, products and services. The SEI will send CMMI v1.2 agreements to current Agreement Partner Business Points of Contact beginning June 29th, 2007. With this notification, in accordance with Appendix A, Section 3.5 “Change Management,” of your current SEI Partner Agreement, the SEI grants temporary use of the CMMI - DEV, v1.2, product suite in the following capacity:

  • SEI-Authorized CMMI Instructors, who have both active Partner sponsorship and have successfully passed the CMMI v1.2 Instructor upgrade exam, will be permitted to use CMMI - DEV, v1.2 course materials to deliver the Introduction to CMMI for Development, v1.2 course until new CMMI - DEV, v1.2 Product Suite Partner agreements are signed.
  • SEI-Authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraisers, who have active Partner sponsorship, have successfully passed the CMMI v1.2 Lead Appraiser or Instructor exam, as appropriate, and have completed SCAMPI face-to-face upgrade training will be permitted to use CMMI - DEV, v1.2 SCAMPI materials to deliver v1.2 SCAMPI A, maturity level 1-3, appraisal services until new CMMI - DEV, v1.2 Product Suite Partner agreements are signed.
  • SEI-Authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraisers will only be permitted to conduct appraisals against CMMI v1.1 until August 31, 2007.
  • SEI-Authorized SCAMPI B&C team leaders, who have both active Partner sponsorship and have successfully passed the CMMI v1.2 Lead Appraiser or Instructor exam, will be permitted to use CMMI - DEV, v1.2 SCAMPI materials to deliver v1.2 SCAMPI B&C appraisal services until new CMMI - DEV, v1.2 Product Suite Partner agreements are signed.
  • SEI-Certified SCAMPI High Maturity Lead Appraisers (HMLA) will be permitted to use the CMMI - DEV, v1.2 SCAMPI materials to deliver v1.2 SCAMPI maturity and capability levels 4 and 5 appraisals until new CMMI for Development, v1.2 Partner Agreements are signed.
  • The following Licensed Materials are made available to Agreement Partner under this notification.

    • CMMI v1.2 course
    • Course registration for “CMMI Version 1.2 Upgrade Training for Instructors, Lead Ap-praisers, and Team Leaders”
    • SCAMPI v1.2 Appraisal materials

Use of the Licensed Materials for the Introduction to CMMI v1.2 course is allowed only by SEI-Authorized CMMI Instructors who are using the materials to deliver the specific SEI course for which the materials are provided and Instructors must be working on behalf of their sponsoring Agreement Partner.

Use of the Licensed Materials for v1.2 SCAMPI Appraisal services is allowed only by SEI-Certified High Maturity Lead Appraisers, SEI-Authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraisers, or SEI-Authorized SCAMPI B&C Team Leaders who are using the materials to deliver the specific SCAMPI Appraisal services for which the materials are provided and Appraisers and Team Leaders must be working on behalf of their sponsoring Agreement Partner.

Agreement Partner cannot use the Licensed Materials or conduct the delivery of Official SEI Courses or Services without the use of the appropriately qualified or SEI-Authorized/Certified individual.

Changes in the CMMI - DEV, v1.2 Product Suite Agreement include:

  • Certification: Sponsorship of SEI-Certified High Maturity Lead Appraisers will be added to the CMMI – DEV, v1.2 Product Suite Agreements.
  • Sunset dates for the CMMI v1.1 Product Suite:  November 1, 2006 for ARC v1.1 for beginning appraisals onsite period.  December 31, 2006 for delivery of Introduction to CMMI v1.1 courses, and August 31, 2007 for SCAMPI v1.1 Appraisal Services.
  • Sponsorship and Observations Forms: Standardized forms to be used for requesting candidate sponsorship and candidate observations will be available for download at http://www.sei.cmu.edu/partners/forms.html.
  • Evaluation Forms: Course evaluation forms have been updated and are available for download from the Partner Resource Center at https://partner-resources.sei.cmu.edu/.
  • FERPA: The SEI is required to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974. This is an act written to protect students’ rights to privacy and rights to view their educational records. FERPA language will be added to the agreements to extend these rights to Partner course attendees. Information regarding FERPA can be found at http://www.sei.cmu.edu/partners/ferpa/.
  • Price Increases (effective June 29th, 2007):

    Use Fees:

    • CMMI v1.2
    • Courses conducted inside the U.S.:   $140 per course participant
    • Courses conducted outside the U.S.: $200 per course participant

    Annual Support Fees for CMMI v1.2 Instructors:

    • SEI-Authorized CMMI v1.2 Instructors:
    • with permanent residency inside the U.S.:   $3,000 per person
    • with permanent residency outside the U.S.: $4,100 per person
    • U.S. Government: $2,400 per person

    Annual Support Fees for SCAMPI Lead Appraisers, SCAMPI B&C Team Leaders and High Maturity Lead Appraisers:

    • SEI-Authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraisers:
    • with permanent residency inside the U.S.:    $3,600 per person
    • with permanent residency outside the U.S.:  $4,750 per person
    • U.S. Government: $2,880 per person
    • SEI-Authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraisers with People CMM Capability:
    • with permanent residency inside the U.S.:    $4,100 per person
    • with permanent residency outside the U.S.:  $5,500 per person
    • U.S. Government: $3,280 per person
    • SEI-Authorized SCAMPI B&C Team Leaders:
    • with permanent residency inside the U.S.:   $2,300 per person
    • with permanent residency outside the U.S.: $3,400 per person
    • U.S. Government: $1,840 per person
    • SEI-Certified SCAMPI High Maturity Lead Appraisers:
    • with permanent residency inside the U.S.:   $6,500 per person
    • with permanent residency outside the U.S.: $8,125 per person
    • U.S. Government: $5,200 per person
  • Organizational Fee: With the effective date of execution of the new CMMI - DEV, v1.2 Product Suite agreement, SEI Partners will be assessed an organizational fee for Partner Organizations. This fee will be invoiced beginning the effective date of execution and annually on the anniversary date of the Agreement every year thereafter. SEI will issue an invoice for the annual minimum fee; payment shall be due 30 days from date of invoice.
     
    • with permanent residency inside the U.S.:   $1,000
    • with permanent residency outside the U.S.: $1,200
    • U.S. Government: $800
  • Observation Fees: New agreements will reflect the new effort/observation fee of $2,250/day plus travel. 
  • Application Fees: Effective March 31, 2007, the SEI will begin assessing a $250 application fee to organizations applying for new partnerships. 
  • Application/Oral Exam Fees for SCAMPI High Maturity Lead Appraiser: New agreements will reflect a $1,500 application fee for each SCAMPI Lead Appraiser applying for High Maturity Lead Appraiser certification.

Introduction

Effective November 1, 2004, the following additional benefits and updates are incorporated into appendices for the license agreements for current and future SEI Partners for the Introduction to CMMI courses and SCAMPI Appraisal Services. These additional benefits and updates are posted here in accordance with the terms of the license agreement. No amendments reflecting these additional benefits and updates will be sent to existing SEI Partners for signature unless specifically requested in writing by the partner. Requests for the signature version of the amendment may be sent to partner-info@sei.cmu.edu. Any current SEI Partner who cannot agree to the revisions may send the cancellation for convenience notice to the SEI as described in the license agreement.
