What specific business problem
is the IPRC trying to solve?
|
The IPRC is not trying to solve a particular
business problem, but to chart potential directions for the future
of software process research. Along the way, the consortium members
may identify solutions for specific business problems, but finding
these solutions would be an added benefit rather than a primary
goal.

What return on investment do
you expect?
|
The focus of the IPRC is on a
longer-term horizon than this question assumes. We are seeking
a research and development agenda that will prepare us for tomorrow's
challenges in the software-intensive enterprise.

What
is the scope of the "problem space" the IPRC will address?
|
The IPRC will be looking 5-10 years into the
future of software process research.

When and where will the
workshops be held?
|
The final schedule is still being developed.
Details about future workshops will be provided to members as they
are finalized.

|
Why six workshops over the course
of two years?
|
We will be using a three-phase process to guide
the roadmap development. Based on the expected size of the IPRC,
we have designed the process so that two workshops are needed to
fully explore and complete each phase. Thus, the overall IPRC framework
contains six workshops.

|
How will the contributions
of the various members be handled?
|
A team of professional facilitators will be
an integral part of every workshop. These individuals are highly
skilled in managing collective creativity and workshop environments.

|
|
What will the workshops
produce?
|
The primary result of the IPRC will be a collaboratively-developed
roadmap of recommended priority investments for process research
over the next 5-10 years. We envision that the IPRC members will
have shared a great experience by the end of their IPRC membership
and come together as a community of practice to move the roadmap
forward through their combined committment of resources, advocacy,
and continued vision.

What are the researchers expected
to bring to the table?
|
Researchers are expected to bring their best
thoughts about what software engineering challenges will be in
the next 5-10 years for the software-intensive enterprise, whether
or not these are areas of research they are working on now. To
get a better idea of researchers' current ideas, see
