SEI Mosaic: Rethinking Risk Management

Although most programs and organizations implement some type of risk management approach, preventable failures continue to occur. In addition, many approaches for managing risk tend to be bureaucratic and time-intensive, which can consume valuable program resources. Many programs would benefit by improving, or in some cases, replacing their current risk management practices. The SEI Mission Success in Complex Environments project develops practical and innovative methods, tools, and techniques for measuring, assessing, and managing program risks.

The project team is currently developing SEI Mosaic—a suite of methods that can be used to manage risk across the life cycle and supply chain. Mosaic enables decision makers to more efficiently engage in the risk management process, navigating through a broad tradeoff space (including performance, reliability, safety, and security considerations, among others) and strategically allocating their limited resources when and where they are needed the most. Mosaic product and service offerings are described below. This suite includes courses, workshops, and evaluation methods.
