Improving Software Architecture Competence (SATURN 2007)

This presentation was created for the SATURN conference series and does not necessarily reflect the positions and views of the Software Engineering Institute.

At the last SATURN workshop, participants heard about a new project in the SEI Software Architecture Technology Initiative titled “Improving Architecture Competence.” The goal of this work is to be able to help a software-producing organization measure and improve its ability to predictably and reliably turn out high-quality architectures that align with the organization’s business goals and requirements. This talk will discuss the project, its approach and strategies and summarize results so far. In particular, different models of competence will be discussed, along with how they contribute to the goals of measurement and improvement.
