Grace Lewis is a SOA course instructor and lead of the SOA Research Agenda, an SEI effort to advance effective SOA practices with participation from a broad cross-section of the research community. In this video Grace discusses why the SEI is offering the SOA certificate and the importance of knowing how the service-oriented architectural style affects your system’s quality attributes (e.g., security, performance, and modifiability). She talks about her primary goals in teaching the SOA courses, the three main takeaways SOA certificate holders will receive, the challenges that developers and their managers face in SOA implementation efforts, and how the SEI training differs from that of SOA technology vendors.
