Phil Hill, winner of the 2008 SEI Member Award for Outstanding Advocate, has a favorite expression regarding process improvement.
“Maturity Level 5, you have arrived. Now you can let the data tell you what to do,” said Hill who, as vice president and director of IT Optimization, does consulting, leads appraisals, and conducts training for American Systems in Chantilly, Va.
“Too often,” Hill added, “process improvement professionals view Level 5 as the finishing line. “It’s not the finishing line. It’s the beginning of true process improvement.”
Hill should know. He’s drawing on more than three decades of
information technology experience.
