Linda Northrop, director for the SEI Research, Technology, and System Solutions (RTSS) Program, provides an overview of the SEI's work in the structure and behavior of systems in a short video now available on the SEI website.

Northrop highlights that the SEI

• wrote the first book on software  architecture for practitioners, which is the foundation of its training curriculum in the discipline
• developed a method that shows organizations how to understand and use the relationship between their business goals for systems and the qualities those systems must deliver
• created a technique to help organizations determine the costs and technical feasibility of migrating legacy systems to service-oriented architecture (SOA) environments
• led the technical development of an advanced model-based software engineering language that enables quantitative architecture analysis
