Submit Abstracts Now for the CMMI Technology Conference and User Group

NDIA is accepting abstract submissions for presentations and tutorials for the CMMI Technology Conference and User Group. This conference will be held November 17-20, 2008, at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center in Denver, Colorado.

Abstracts should be approximately 250 to 300 words, and are due no later than midnight EDT, May 31, 2008. Visit the call for papers on the NDIA conference site (PDF file) at http://www.ndia.org/meetings/9110 for more information on abstract requirements and how to submit abstracts online.

SEI Partner Meeting at SEPG Europe 2008

This annual meeting for Partner Business Points of Contact who plan to attend the conference will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at 18:00.  It  will be held at the Salon Rumford on the ground level of the Hilton Munich Park. 

Lisa Masciantonio, Partner Network Manager, will provide an update on Partner Network news.  Someone from the Partner Advisory Board will give a presentation on the current status and seek recommendations for engaging the community from the meeting attendees.  A session will also be provided on the the CMMI for Services. 

 Partner Business Points of Contact must RSVP to klv@sei.cmu.edu by Friday, May 30 if they plan to attend or if they plan to send a representative in their place.

SPIN Information

SPIN is an acronym for Software and Systems Process Improvement Network.  It is an organization of professionals in a given geographical area who are dedicated to software and systesm process improvement.  Joining a SPIN recognizes one's commitment to improve the state of software and systems engineering, as well as, placing one in contact with the network of expertise within their community.  It is a practical forum for the interchange of ideas, information, and mutual support.  Each regional SPIN is slightly different, based on the vision of the founders and the needs of the community.  SPINs are made up of professionals from all sectors:  industry, government, academia (including students), and include defense contractors, professional organizations, and independent consultants.  Currently, there are 126 SPINs worldwide.

Reminder for Third-Party Marketing

If you are planning to use a 3rd party to market SEI authorized courses, please note that your license agreement states that you may not distribute the course description to 3rd parties without permission from the SEI.

To obtain the appropriate permission on behalf of the 3rd party organization to distribute the course description from the SEI, you will need to submit your request via this permission form.

The 3rd party marketing organization should use the following language with the course description:"[Insert name of third party], in collaboration with [Insert name of SEI Partner], is arranging the Software Engineering Institute's authorized [Insert name of SEI course] course.

[Insert date, place, etc.]

This training will be delivered under [Insert name of SEI Partner]'s license agreement with the Software Engineering Institute."

TSP News 

 TSP Executive Seminar at SEPG Europe 2008

Watts Humphrey, winner of the U.S. National Medal of Technology---the highest honor awarded by the president of the United States to America's leading innovators---and Jim Over, team lead of the Team Software Process Initiative at the SEI, will jointly teach the TSP Executive Strategy Seminar on June 9. It is one of several special events scheduled to kick off the SEPG Europe Conference, which will be held June 10-13 in Munich, Germany.  To register for this exciting event, go to http://www.sei.cmu.edu/products/courses/tsp-exsem.html.

 Registration for TSP Symposium 2008

We are pleased to announce that registration for the TSP Symposium 2008 is now open.  The Symposium will be held September 22-25, 2008 in Phoenix, AZ.  You can begin the registration process at http://www.sei.cmu.edu/tsp/registration.html.

 Leading a Development Team Now Available for PSP Instructors

The course, Leading a Development Team, is now available on the SEI Partner Resource Center (https://partner-resources.sei.cmu.edu) for PSP instructors.  Please note there are videos that accompany the course.  At this time, the videos are not available for download, but you can get a CD of the videos by contact Jodie Nesta at jsn@sei.cmu.edu.  In order for the CD to be produced, you must request it two weeks prior to a scheduled course offering of Leading a Development Team and submit your anticipated course attendee list.
