SEI Accepting Applications for Introduction to CMMI® Course Delivery
During the SEI Partner Survey presentation at SEPG 2003, Gibbie Hart announced that on June 1 the SEI would reopen the opportunity to license the 3-day Introduction to CMMI course for commercial delivery. This opportunity is offered only to organizations that are licensed SEI
Partners as of June 1 and organizations that currently employ SEI-authorized individuals such as CBA IPI lead assessors, SCAMPI Lead AppraisersSM, P-CMM® lead assessors, OCTAVESM advisors/trainers, or TSPSM launch coaches.
The SEI Partner Program expects that some of these organizations may have contracts for this licensing opportunity as early as August 2003. This opportunity will not be offered to the general public until September 2003.
Eligible organizations received an announcement directing them to apply for this opportunity via a secure Web form on the SEI site: http://www.sei.cmu.edu/collaborating/partners. Organizations that did not receive the announcement should send e-mail to
cmlcmmi-partner-info@sei.cmu.edu to obtain a password to access the Web form.
Organizations that already have licenses for commercial delivery of Intro to CMMI need not reapply.
SEI-authorized individuals listed above whose organizations are not commercial partners for Intro to CMMI courses or SCAMPI appraisal services may use this application form for both opportunities.
SEI Director to Become Vice President of Georgia Tech Research Institute
Stephen E. Cross, director and chief executive officer of the SEI, has announced that he will leave the institute on September 1, 2003 to become a vice president at Georgia Institute of Technology and director of the Georgia Tech Research Institute.
Cross has been the director of the SEI since 1996. He joined the university in 1994 as a member of the research faculty and director of the Information Technology Center, a department in the School of Computer Science.
New Registered Trademark
OCTAVE® is now registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by Carnegie Mellon University. For information and guidelines regarding the proper use of Carnegie Mellon University service marks and trademarks, see Trademarks and Service
Marks on the SEI Web site.
Changes to TPWeb Center
To address some of the issues raised by SEI Partners, the SEI has incorporated a new database system for the TP WebCenter. Certain functions of the TP WebCenter have been discontinued as a result of this update, particularly submission of attendee lists for Intro to CMMI classes.
Attendee Lists
Attendee lists will now be entered into Excel forms that can be completed offline and submitted online or via e-mail. Both forms contain step-by-step usage instructions and may be downloaded from the TPWeb Center. Those who do not have the required hardware and software (Microsoft
Internet Explorer and Excel 2000 on a Windows PC) may e-mail attendee lists to tpweb@sei.cmu.edu. For more information or to request the form, contact tpweb@sei.cmu.edu.
Effective Monday, June 23, 2003: after submitting an attendee list containing commercial or government students, business points of contact will receive a quarterly e-mail request for the necessary royalty information. Contact tpweb@sei.cmu.edu with
any questions.
Changing Contact Information
Contact tpweb@sei.cmu.edu for any changes to your contact information.
Inaugural SCAMPI Lead Appraiser and Introduction to CMMI Instructor Workshops
The SEI has begun planning the inaugural SCAMPI Lead Appraiser and Introduction to CMMI Instructor Workshops. No fees are associated with the workshops, which are tentatively scheduled to be held in conjunction on November 4-6, 2003. More information will be forwarded in a separate announcement.
