OCTAVE To Be Discontinued
The SEI Partner Network and NSS Program have made a decision to discontinue the (OCTAVE®) Licensing Program effective March 30, 2005. OCTAVE materials will be made available for internal and commercial use through free downloading via the OCTAVE Web site on July 1, 2005. The SEI would like to thank
those who have participated as a transition partner for our OCTAVE technology.
Spotlight Opportunity: CERT/CC Course Licensing
Many people don't realize that the world leader in information security is located right here at the SEI. Created in 1988 in response to Morris worm incident which brought 10 percent of Internet systems to a halt, the CERT/CC is a major reporting center for Internet security problems. In addition to
providing technical advice and coordinating responses to security compromises, the CERT/CC provides a series of robust training courses that build on our extensive base of expertise in the field of information security.
To support the CERT/CC’s mission of disseminating knowledge about information security to the broadest possible audience, CERT/CC partners with select organizations to license and deliver our seven core training classes. These classes are designed to meet the needs of several audiences, from information technology (IT) managers, to systems and network administrators, to organizations that are looking to build an internal incident response capability. Organizations have the flexibility to license anywhere from one course, up to the entire suite of seven courses.
For descriptions of the CERT/CC courses available for licensing, please see http://www.sei.cmu.edu/products/courses/courses.html#SEC
We are currently looking for additional, qualified partners to help us extend the reach of the CERT/CC curriculum. For more information about licensing CERT/CC courses, please contact Stacie Blakley by email at scollins@sei.cmu.edu. or by telephone at 412-268-5848.
For more information about the CERT/CC, please visit the CERT Web site.
Software Product Line Curriculum and Certificate Programs Announced
The SEI has established a software product line curriculum and certificate programs for organizations to take advantage of the extensive SEI and community experience in developing, acquiring, and fielding software product lines. The curriculum includes five courses and one field exercise, and it offers
three certificates: Software Product Line Professional, Product Line Technical Probe Team Member, and Product Line Technical Probe Leader.
Participants in these programs learn state-of-the-art practices so they can efficiently use proven product line practices to achieve their strategic reuse and other business goals and learn how to perform and lead SEI-authorized Product Line Technical Probes.
For more information about this program, see http://www.sei.cmu.edu/productlines/spl_curriculum.html.
