Service-oriented architecture (SOA) has become an increasingly popular mechanism for achieving interoperability between systems. Migration of legacy systems to service-oriented environments has been achieved within a number of domains, showing that the promise of SOA is starting to be realized. The SEI Service Migration and Reuse Technique (SMART), developed in 2005, helps organizations to make initial decisions about the feasibility of reusing legacy systems within an SOA environment.
As an SEI Partner for the SOA Product Suite, your organization can sponsor SEI-Certified SOA-SMART Team Leads to work with organizations to identify candidate services, assess the changes needed in the legacy system to accomplish the migration, evaluate migration strategies, and identify a pilot project as a risk mitigation mechanism.
