TSP FAQ: Contracts Effective July 1, 2007
Q: Must I become an instructor in order to become a coach?
A: No, this requirement has been eliminated.
Q: By when must I apply for my new license?
A: There is no application requirement for existing TSP Product Suite Partners. The SEI will automatically provide your organization with a new license agreement for signature.
If you recently applied to become an SEI Partner and have just had your application accepted, you do not have to reapply.
Q: It seems that I will have to pay $6000 between my $3000 annual fee and my authorization fees. Is that the case?
A: No—your annual individual support fees go toward your organization’s annual minimum fee—they are credited from the $3000.
Q: Can I sell the SEI TSP Tool to my course participants?
A: The license agreement procedures require the SEI Partner to provide the TSP Tool to course participants. Since the TSP Tool is currently available from the SEI, there is no charge associated with the use of the TSP Tool. However, TSP Tools may be available in the future from third parties who are licensed by the SEI to create and sell such tools.
Q: What is an academic-use license?
A: The SEI is now offering a new TSP academic-use license. This license permits academic institutions to deliver the TSP courses to students enrolled in its institution. This will create a supply of TSP-trained developers through the universities. This presents an excellent opportunity for Partners who can engage these developers in their TSP activities.
The introduction of the academic license at Tec de Monterrey has been a resounding success.
Q: What is blended learning?
A: The SEI may offer selected TSP Product Suite Courses with Internet-based support. This is known as SEI – Blended Learning (SEI-BL). Any TSP Product Suite Course with the phrase “blended learning version” in the course title is an SEI-BL course.
SEI-BL draws upon the best of both traditional face-to-face instruction and Internet-based, distance learning. At one extreme SEI-BL classes will give Course Participants much the same experience as the traditional, instructor-led SEI courses with modest Internet support added. At the other extreme SEI-BL has the capability of delivering pure distance education courses. In the SEI-BL model, materials are maintained and served by the SEI. Instructors and Course Participants access the SEI-BL system via the Internet using ordinary computers and Web browsers. SEI-BL offers modern course management capabilities.
