Course Description

This three-day course is for those interested in becoming SEI-Certified Instructors of the Implementing Goal-Driven Measurement course. The Implementing Goal-Driven Measurement course introduces a method for identifying and defining indicators (graphical displays) and measures that directly support an organization's business goals related to product development, process improvement, and project management. This instructor training course is composed of lectures and participant presentations of Implementing Goal-Driven Measurement course material. Candidate instructors must demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the Goal-Driven Measurement method and have effective instructional and facilitation skills. Other required qualifications are specified at http://www.sei.cmu.edu/certification/igdm.html.

A number of pre-course exercises must be submitted to determine if applicants are prepared to take this course. Accepted candidates must be observed by an SEI-qualified instructor and receive satisfactory evaluations while attending the instructor training course and afterward while delivering a public course. Certified instructors may teach the Implementing Goal-Driven Measurement course within their own organizations or in other organizations, depending on their sponsoring organization's licensing agreement with the SEI.

SEI certification recognizes both current skills and a commitment to an ongoing learning process. An SEI Instructor certification is valid for a period of three years from the award date. In order to qualify for certification renewal, an ongoing commitment to professional growth and personal development must be demonstrated according to SEI guidelines. For more information about certification maintenance, please visit the SEI Certification Program.
