Among the activities listed are "scientific, educational, professional, business conventions, conferences, or seminars."

The courses offered at the Software Engineering Institute are viewed as professional development courses. International participants in these courses have consistently entered the US in B1 status (or under the visa waiver program) without difficulty. The university administration believes that it is in our interest and the interest of our visitors and students to have a consistent approach to immigration matters with these programs.
