Networked Systems Survivability
The Networked Systems Survivability Program builds on the experience of the CERT® Coordination Center, established in 1988, to coordinate communication among experts during computer security emergencies and help prevent future security incidents. The primary goals of the NSS Program are to ensure that appropriate technology and systems management practices are used to resist attacks on networked systems and to limit damage and ensure continuity of critical services in spite of successful attacks, accidents, or failures.
The program staff develops and widely distributes security practices and an information security evaluation method that together enable organizations to protect their systems against current and emerging threats. The staff provides training to system administrators, managers, and incident response teams.
The Networked Systems Survivability technical program includes the following:
- CERT Coordination Center
- Resiliency Engineering
- Survivable Systems Engineering
- CERT Training & Education
- The CERT® Virtual Training Environment (VTE), a library of information assurance and computer forensics best practices is available now to the general public.
