Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Architecture Technology User Network Conference
As the premier software architecture conference for senior engineers, SATURN offers keynotes and sessions on both essential skills and cutting-edge methods for software architects. But don’t take our word for it. Read what the community says about SATURN in our tweet archive below!
Linda M. Northrop Software Architecture Award
The Linda M. Northrop Software Architecture Award is given to an individual or team that has used
architecture-centric engineering to significantly improve practices in an organization or in the software development community.
The winner of the 2016 award was Eltjo Poort of CGI. The award was conferred at SATURN 2016, where Poort gave a presentation on "Adapting Architecture Practices to Changing Times—From What To Why and Back Again."
San Diego, CA
The 12th SATURN Conference was held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina in San Diego, California. Inspired by nautical influences and located on the San Diego Bay, the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina offers panoramic views and easy access to great waterfront restaurants and celebrated attractions.
New Graphic Representations of Keynote Talks
At SATURN 2016, MJ Broadbent and Amine Chigani of GE Digital presented a workshop called "Draw It Out: The Power of Visual Communication." The workshop helped participants improve their skills in visual storytelling and their ability to draw architecture artifacts. At the conference, MJ Broadbent also created two graphic representations of keynote talks:
- Architecting the Unknown, by Grady Booch of IBM
- Rethinking Software Design, by Daniel Jackson of MIT
Since 2010, the SEI and IEEE have been conferring two attendee-selected awards at SATURN: the IEEE Software SATURN Architecture in Practice Presentation Award and the IEEE Software SATURN New Directions Presentation Award. Visit the blog to find out who this year's winners are!
