Guha Bala Karthik Bala

Brothers Karthik and Guha Bala founded Vicarious Visions (vvisions.com) in 1994 while both were in high school.

Over the past 13 years Vicarious Visions has grown from a few friends working in their parent's basement to a leading developer of video game software. Today the company employs over 150 highly creative programmers, artists and designers located in Albany, NY.

The studio has created over 100 software titles selling more than 20 million units and accounting for over $800 million in retail sales. The studio has developed several top-selling games for console systems from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo on systems including XBox, PS2, Wii, DS, and GameBoy Advance. Recent titles include Spider-Man 3, Shrek the Third, Transformers, Tony Hawk. In 2005 Vicarious Visions became part of Activision (ATVI), a leading worldwide publisher of entertainment software.

Guha Bala is the President of Vicarious Visions and oversees the day-to-day production management for the studio. Over the years he has led the company's business development and operations. Guha holds an honors degree in Chemistry from Harvard University.

Karthik Bala is the CEO and Chief Creative Officer. Karthik's focus is on staff development, creative and technology direction and he also serves as the primary spokesperson for the studio. In the past he has contributed to the company's success by serving diverse roles ranging from programming, art and animation to marketing and public relations. Karthik holds degrees in Computer Science and Psychology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
