About Munich
While you are in Munich for SEPG Europe 2008, you will also be in town for the celebration of the Bavarian state capital's 850th anniversary. A series of festivities – including music, street performances, and refreshments – have been planned to commemorate this milestone of Germany's third largest city.
The SEPG Europe conference site and hotel is also located right near the Englischer Garten, one of the largest city parks in Europe – even bigger than London's Hyde Park or New York City's Central Park, according to Lonely Planet.
While Munich has become famous for the Oktoberfest and the Hofbrauhaus, and the Olympic grounds, the city also has a well-deserved reputation as a cultural hub in the European community. In Munich, 70 art galleries and more than 42 museums – including the Pinakothek der Moderne, which is one of the world's largest collections of 20th and 21st century art – call the city home.
