SEPG Europe 2008 Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute

Welcome

Greetings to the European Process Community,

As you may know, the SEI has broadened its SEPGSM Conference Series to include SEPG Europe. I thank Lorna and Tony Elkington of the ESPI Foundation for their vision, leadership, and commitment to the predecessor event, the European SEPG, an outstanding conference since 1996. Now that SEPG Europe is under the SEI banner, we intend to maintain a commitment to an expanding European process community and to continue to offer a relevant and forward-looking event for you. On the other hand, we have made one significant change as this year's conference will be moving to Munich, Germany. In future years, we plan to host it at other European venues.

While we plan to maintain all of the aspects of SEPG Europe that have made it a success, we are also heralding in new and exciting enhancements to the conference program like a three-hour boot camp the day before the conference begins. In short, SEI experts lead a three-hour crash course geared toward those new to the world of process improvement. It is designed to help you get the most out of SEPG Europe.

More than 200 abstracts have been submitted to the conference, and I think that the caliber of the accepted presentations will reach the high standard that attendees have come to expect. I am impressed by the creativity, professionalism, and impact that our presenters, exhibitors, and partners bring to the conference as well as to businesses and organizations around the world. It is an event for people in our dynamic profession to come together to learn, share, and take advantage of the process performance progress that they and others are making.

That profession focuses on transformation: We help people and organizations transform themselves, their businesses, and the products and services that they acquire and provide across diverse markets. Our impact is far reaching because software and systems affect everything, and our customers are everywhere. SEPG Europe 2008 is your opportunity to connect and learn along with our peers and our community, and Munich, Germany will be a great location to do this. Once again it is my privilege and honor to be your conference chair, for the 13th consecutive year, for this powerful event. I hope to see you in Munich June 10–13.
