Process Improvement for the European Community Since 1996
SEPG Europe (formerly known as European SEPG) was first held in 1996, through an initiative of the ESPI Foundation and the SEI, to make the Capability Maturity Model for software more accessible to organizations in Europe. From the first conference held in Amsterdam, SEPG Europe established itself as the meeting point for individuals and organizations interested in process improvement.
In 2007, by mutual agreement, the ESPI Foundation and the SEI agreed that the SEI would oversee the European conference as part of the SEPG Conference Series that today has annual conference offerings in North America, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific, in addition to Europe.
When you attend SEPG Europe, you’ll be immersed in the challenges and opportunities in performance improvement specific to the European community. SEPG Europe focuses heavily on networking and community building, bringing software, systems, services, and process improvement professionals together to connect, share, and engage.
Software engineering professionals focused on process management have long turned to the SEI for professional development in the disciplines of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Product Suite, Team Software Process (TSP), People CMM, measurement and analysis, and service development and delivery. SEPG Conferences provide a venue for knowledge sharing, learning, and networking in these and more areas and continue to make a significant impact in the industry. Consider these facts:
- SEI process management models are complementary and synergistic with other widely recognized practices such as Six Sigma, Agile, ITIL, and ISO standards.
- More than 80,000 individuals have been trained in the Introduction to CMMI.
- Nearly 3,000 organizations worldwide have been appraised against CMMI for Development (CMMI-DEV).
- The SEI Partner Network consists of 400+ organizations licensed to deliver courses and conduct appraisals.
- Leading research firms have identified CMMI-DEV as the de facto standard for process improvement.
- The CMMI Product Suite has been expanded to meet market demands in the areas of acquisition (CMMI-ACQ) and service delivery (CMMI-SVC).
- A Mexican national initiative to adopt TSP as a required best practice was announced in May 2008.
For the SEPG Europe 2009 Conference, the focus is on performance. Process models, process capability, process management, and process improvement are the means to that end. This year we're introducing a new theme that we hope captures the essence of why we all do what we do: Perform at a Higher Level. Considering that the SEI has almost 25 years of leadership and a proven foundation on which to build, performing at a higher level can be an aspiration for all of us. From end users to solution providers to researchers and students, Perform at a Higher Level is a reflection of our field and ourselves.
