Current real-time computer software architectures do not support the
safe and reliable insertion of new components and technologies into
existing systems. The SimplexTM Architecture
facilitates the building of dependable and renewable real-time systems.
The Simplex Architecture provides for
- dynamic alteration of an active system (hardware or software)
- toleration of hardware and software faults
- a guarantee of the existing level of performance when software fails
- use of open systems and COTS components
- support for heterogeneous programming languages and hardware
