Professional Background
John joined the SEI in 1993 as a visiting scientist and has since become a full time member of the technical staff. As a member of the Product Line Systems Program he proactively assists DoD programs in applying and transitioning SEI technologies such as product line practices, the ATAM, and the QAW to improve their acquisition practices and reduce software acquisition risk. Before coming to the SEI, John had a 25 year career with the U.S. Naval Air Development Center (NADC) where he served as a software division manager responsible for the life cycle support of the avionics software for the Navys major antisubmarine warfare patrol and attack aircraft. In this capacity, John was instrumental in applying total quality management principles and commercial technologies to make substantial improvements in the Navys software development and acquisition practices.
