Lisa Brownsword is a twelve-year veteran at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) where she is senior member of the technical staff working in the Integrating Software Intensive Systems (ISIS) initiative. She is currently investigating the enablers and barriers to interoperability in a system of systems environment. Brownsword was a member of the former COTS-Based Systems (CBS) initiative. She developed a process for CBS (EPIC). She founded and was the inaugural conference chair for the International Conference on COTS-Based Software Systems (ICCBSS) and continues to serve in a variety of roles. Brownsword authored and delivered CBS courses for executives, managers, and program office staff to government and industry organizations. She has authored articles for Crosstalk and IEEE Software on various COTS-based system related topics.

Professional Background

As a consultant at Rational Software Corporation, Brownsword provided mentoring to managers and technical practitioners in the use of architecture-centered development, product lines, object technology, and the Rational Unified Process. Brownsword has delivered numerous management and technical courses, workshops, and presentations at professional conferences and to customers around the world.
