Tips for Readers

The information below can help you make the most of the STR online:

  1. We recommend that you use a browser that supports frames, such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer.

  2. We recommend maximizing your browser window on your screen, especially if you are using a small screen.

  3. All of the technology descriptions are normally displayed in a two-frame format. If you use the search utility, however, some of your search results may appear as only the top frame of a technology description. If this happens, you will still see the entire technology description, but your ease of access to supplemental information (such as references, glossary terms, and related topics) will be impaired.

If you find yourself viewing a technology description in a one-frame format, we recommend the following procedure to restore the two-frame view:

    1. Take note of the name of the technology description.
    2. Click on the "Technology Descriptions" button at the left hand side of the page.
    3. On the main "Technology Descriptions" page, select the technology description you noted in step 1.
