Many organizations are migrating legacy components to service-oriented architecture (SOA) environments with the goals of cost-efficiency, agility, adaptability, and the leveraging of legacy investments. However, before starting a migration, it is important to make a realistic assessment of the cost, risk and feasibility of migrating a specific set of legacy components to a specific SOA environment.
The SOA Migration, Adoption, and Reuse Technique (SMART) helps organizations to develop a realistic strategy for the migration of legacy components to a specific SOA target environment. SMART considers the specific characteristics of the target SOA environment and any changes that must be made to the legacy components to adapt to the environment.
This two-day course provides training in SMART. Individuals participating in this two-day interactive course will gain hands-on experience using the templates of the SMART process through activities and case studies. Realistic scenarios and exercises will allow students to practice SMART methods to demonstrate their grasp of the concepts and their readiness to participate in field exercise pilots.
