This three-day course introduces those who are involved in improving workforce management practices or managing technical professionals to the People Capability Maturity Model (People CMM), Version 2.0, its fundamental concepts, and the value it can bring to organizations using it. The People CMM is a framework that organizations can use to attract, motivate, and retain talented technical staff. The practices in the model help an organization be an employer of choice and ensure that the staff has the competencies and capabilities to achieve an organization's current and future business objectives.
The course is composed of lectures and class exercises with ample opportunity for participant questions and discussions. After attending the course, participants will be able to understand the practices described in the People CMM Version 2 Framework and how these practices can be used to improve the workforce management capabilities of their organization. Participants will also be able to describe an organization's ability to develop and evolve its workforce at each maturity level.
This course is a prerequisite for the Intermediate Concepts of the People CMM course, SCAMPI with People CMM Team Training, SCAMPI with People CMM Lead Appraiser Training, and the Introduction to People CMM Instructor Course.
Reading homework is required the first and second evenings of the course.
