International Conference on Software and Systems Processes 2022 Opens Call for Submissions
Article

Update: The conference will be held virtually, May 19-20. The call for submissions has been extended one week, with abstracts for experience reports and industry talks now due January 21 and full and short research papers due January 24.

November 18, 2021—The SEI will host the next International Conference on Software and Systems Processes (ICSSP) from May 20-22, 2022, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The conference has opened its call for submissions, with due dates in mid-January 2022. Work may be submitted on the conference’s EasyChair website.

ICSSP, held jointly with the International Conference on Global Software Engineering (ICGSE), brings together researchers and practitioners to share their findings, experiences, and new ideas on diverse topics related to software and system processes and global software engineering. The goal of the conference is to advance both the state of the research and the state of the practice by applying innovative ideas from different fields of research to the future of software engineering process and globally distributed software development.

Conference organizers invite software researchers and practitioners to submit unpublished, original 10-page full papers, or 5-page short papers, for presentation at the event and publication in the conference proceedings. Abstracts are due January 17, 2022, with papers due January 24.

Industry practitioners are invited to submit experience reports and talk proposals to the conference’s industry track, which will focus on the real-world application of techniques, tools, methodologies, processes, and practices. Submissions are due January 14, 2022.

The theme for ICSSP 2022 is “Envisioning the Future of Software Engineering Process and Practice for Global Competitiveness and Innovation.” Submissions may be on any topic related to software and system processes or global software engineering. Conference organizers are particularly interested in the following topics:

  • work from anywhere (WFX)
  • education and training
  • future and innovation related to software process and collaboration
  • fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in software process and development
  • business strategy
  • methods and processes
  • hybrid processes
  • human aspects of distributed software development and processes
  • systems-software interfaces

International experts from industry, academia, and the SEI make up the event’s organizing committee, which is chaired by Anita Carleton, director of the SEI’s Software Solutions Division. “The SEI is excited to host ICSSP 2022 and bring together international researchers, industry leaders, and practitioners to share their research findings, experiences, and new ideas on diverse topics related to software and system processes, global software engineering, and the latest innovations that are shaping the future of software engineering,” said Carleton.

For more than 35 years, the SEI has established and advanced software as a strategic advantage for national security. The SEI recently released a study called Architecting the Future of Software Engineering: A National Agenda for Software Engineering Research & Development, which lays out a multi-year research and development vision and roadmap for engineering next-generation software-reliant systems.
