The Fourth SEI Software Architecture Workshop for Educators was held at the Software Engineering Institute in Pittsburgh, PA on July 31- August 2, 2007. The 2007 workshop used the Documenting Software Architectures course as its centerpiece.

The format matched that of the previous workshops. The workshop started with a two-day course, Documenting Software Architectures. This two-day course provides in-depth coverage of effective software architecture documentation practices that meet the needs of the entire architecture stakeholder community. This course presents the information in the context of prevailing prescriptive models, including the Rational Unified Process (RUP), the Siemens Four Views software approach, the IEEE 1471-2000 standard, and the Unified Modeling Language (UML). The course is based on the book Documenting Software Architectures: Views and Beyond.

The third day consisted of a brainstorming session, led by SEI architecture team members, on the inclusion of SEI software architecture documentation concepts and methods in academic courses. There was no charge for the workshop. However, attendees were responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses.
