Coming Soon: CEU Certificates in Partner Resource Center
March 31, 2008
As we continue to make improvements to various Partner Network procedures, we will soon introduce a new process for Continuing Education Unit (CEU) certificate generation that is controlled by Partners.
The SEI currently generates CEU certificates and sends them to Partners for distribution to students. Beginning in April, Partners will be able to print course completion certificates that include CEUs for their students using a template available in the Partner Resource Center. Each course will have its own certificate template, and each template will indicate the number of CEUs the student has earned. As part of this change, the SEI no longer requires students to provide their date of birth in order to receive their CEUs. Another related improvement is the updated attendee list template, currently available on the Partner Resource Center.
Partners who have already submitted information to the SEI about courses they have delivered do not need to resubmit the information; the SEI will process these submissions as it has in the past.
If you have any questions, please contact us at partner-info@sei.cmu.edu.

SEI Begins Educational Collaboration with Leading Indian University BITS Pilani
December 17, 2007
The SEI has begun a new collaboration in postgraduate, professional education with the Birla Institute of Technology and Science with main campus in Pilani, Rajasthan, India (BITS Pilani). On Monday, representatives from the SEI and BITS Pilani signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in education and research activities.
This collaboration represents an important educational opportunity to the SEI community. The first offering under this MOU is in postgraduate education: BITS will collaborate with the SEI in delivery of the SEI Certificate in Personal Software Process for CMMI. Organizations participating in selected BITS work-integrated programs—postgraduate degree programs that require students to complete real-world work experience—are invited to nominate outstanding candidates to earn this certificate.
With top rankings among Indian institutions, BITS Pilani offers postgraduate work-integrated programs to more than 8,000 actively participating students working in leading software development companies in India.

CMMI for Acquisition, Version 1.2 Model Now Available
November 1, 2007
The Carnegie Mellon® Software Engineering Institute (SEI) proudly announces the release of CMMI® for Acquisition (CMMI-ACQ), Version 1.2, a CMMI model designed for use in managing the supply chain by those who acquire, procure, or otherwise select and purchase products and services for business purposes. This model is a continuation of work to define best practices for organizations that acquire products and services or outsource development and support, which was work begun in a partnership between General Motors and the SEI.

The SEI to Host Future European SEPG Conferences
The SEI and ESPI Foundation recently agreed that the SEI will serve as the primary sponsor of the European SEPG Conference. With the growth of the SEPG-North America Conference, both the SEI and ESPI feel that having the SEI organize the European SEPG will provide an even greater opportunity for presenters, exhibitors, and attendees to teach and learn about process improvement.
The SEI greatly appreciates the vision and determination of ESPI Foundation’s Tony and Lorna Elkington, who have been largely responsible for the success of the European SEPG since its beginning in 1996. The Elkingtons will continue to be involved as advisors for future European SEPG conferences.
“It has been a pleasure for us to be involved with the emerging process improvement community in Europe, and to play some part in its growth," said Lorna Elkington. "We are delighted that the SEI is to host the European SEPG in future years, and look forward to contributing to its smooth transition and continued success.”
The next European SEPG Conference will be held June 10-13, 2008. The exact location and more details will be announced on the SEI Web site as plans are finalized.
New TSP License Agreement, Effective July 1, 2007
The SEI Partner Network has updated the license agreements for TSP Partners. The changes to these agreements were based on the feedback we received from Partners during the TSP Focus Groups in 2006 and will ensure quality, enable broad transition, and provide for the future of TSP. The new agreements are effective July 1, 2007. Current Partners can view communications, Webinar notes, and an FAQ page about the new agreements on the Partner Resource Center.
TSP Focus Group Findings Now Available
At the TSP Workshop on September 21, 2006, the SEI Partner Network conducted focus groups to determine how we can improve the TSP Partner opportunity. We have used the findings from this focus group to make changes to the TSP license agreement, and the findings continue to inform decisions we make about overall licensing strategy. Current Partners can view the findings from the TSP Focus Group on the Partner Resource Center.
