Through our research in resilience management, the CERT Program is developing tools, techniques, and methods to enable organizations to improve their security and business continuity activities by focusing on actively managing operational resilience.

The CERT-RMM helps to ensure that the organization's important assets - people, information, technology, and facilities - stay productive in supporting business processes and services. The model serves as a foundation from which an organization can measure its current competency, set improvement targets, and establish plans and actions to close any identified gaps. As a result, the organization repositions and repurposes its security and business continuity activities and adopts a process improvement mindset that helps to keep services and assets productive in the long term.

Improve your organizational resiliency by attending a year-long series of workshops at a Software Engineering Institute (SEI) facility. You will experience hands-on activities to understand, compare, and enhance your organizational resilience, using the CERT-RMM as the guide.

Organizations that become a member of the users group will receive the following benefits:

• Registration for four two-day CERT-RMM workshops at a SEI facility - participating organizations may send up to three attendees to each workshop.
• Participation in the Introduction to the CERT Resilience Management Model training course, which will be delivered during the first workshop.
• Invitations to contribute to discussion forums and other interim collaboration opportunities, organized and conducted by CERT-RMM technical leaders, between the workshops.

Objectives

By participating in the workshop series, you will work with industry and government experts and other industry-leading organizations on one of the most significant challenges facing businesses: managing operational risk. Opportunities to engage in collaborative discussions, work sessions, and hands-on activities will allow you to:

• benchmark your organization's resilience activities against the CERT-RMM. You will select a high-priority subset of CERT-RMM process areas on which to focus
• begin to answer key resilience measurement and analysis questions about your organization and identify measures that you can implement to evaluate and improve your resilience
• learn how to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operational risk management activities
• participate in peer-to-peer comparisons and learning related to resilience practices
• become a part of the growing community of experienced users of the CERT-RMM
• learn how to reduce the complexity and improve the efficiency of compliance activities

The focus of each workshop session in the year-long series is guided by the needs of the organizations that register. You will have the opportunity to tell us your needs and interests through conference and one-on-one calls. We will then tailor the workshop series to best serve your interests. Early interest in the series has focused on performance measurement and comparative analysis among organizations.

Prerequisites

Before registering for this course, it is strongly recommended that participants attend the Introduction to the CERT Resilience Management Model course.
