Registration Terms and Conditions

1. Information Regarding Course Acceptance

The SEI accepts qualified registrants for training on a first-come, first-served basis. Dates and prices are subject to change.

2. eLearning Access

The SEI eLearning Access payment is not transferable to other SEI events. There are no refunds for SEI eLearning Access service. Please direct all questions to courseregistration@sei.cmu.edu.

3. Payment of Course Registration Fees

Course registration fees include comprehensive course materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and breaks. Course dates and fees are subject to change.

Credit Cards: We accept the following credit cards, which are processed upon receipt:

  • American Express
  • Master Card
  • Visa

Completed Purchase Orders: Purchase Orders must be completed in full, should indicate "Advanced Payment Required," and must be signed by the designated fiscal officer in your organization.

Government Purchase Orders: For government purchase orders, we recommend submitting DD Form 1556 as a prepaid training form, with "Advance Payment Required" in Block 37 and the fiscal officer's signature in Block 29.

Wire Transfer: Reference the invoice number, and provide as much information in the wire as possible. Please email courseregistration@sei.cmu.edu after the wire transfer has been sent.

No Deduction for Taxes: Company agrees that any and all payments required to be made under this Agreement will be free of any type of applicable taxes, offsets or withholdings. To the extent Company is required by applicable law, regulation and/or ordinance to withhold, offset, and/or deduct any portion of the money to be paid to SEI, then the amounts due under this Agreement shall be increased to such amounts as may be necessary to yield SEI the amount it would otherwise have received had such payments been made without deduction for any such withholdings, offsets and/or deductions.

STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PURCHASE ORDERS

SEI shall provide training and/or educational courses to Company in accordance with the following standard Terms and Conditions, which are effective as of the date of the Purchase Order. No Warranty. ANY AND ALL INFORMATION, MATERIALS, SERVICES, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND OTHER PROPERTY, AND RIGHTS GRANTED AND/OR PROVIDED BY SEI PURSUANT TO THIS AGREEMENT (INCLUDING ALL COURSE MATERIALS) ARE GRANTED AND/OR PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" BASIS. SEI MAKES NO WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO ANY MATTER, AND ALL SUCH WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED. WITHOUT LIMITING THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING, SEI MAKES NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND RELATING TO EXCLUSIVITY, INFORMATIONAL CONTENT, ERROR-FREE OPERATION, RESULTS TO BE OBTAINED FROM USE, FREEDOM FROM PATENT, TRADEMARK AND COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT, AND/OR FREEDOM FROM THEFT OF TRADE SECRETS. SEI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE TO COMPANY OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE TRAINING AND OR COURSES DELIVERED TO COMPANY PURSUANT TO THE PURCHASE ORDER, FOR LOSS OF PROFITS OR FOR INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, EVEN IF SEI HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES OR HAS OR GAINS KNOWLEDGE OF THE EXISTENCE OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Indemnification

Company shall defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SEI and its trustees, officers, employees, attorneys, and agents from and against any and all liability, damage, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys fees and expenses) incurred by or imposed upon any of SEI and/or its trustees, officers, employees, attorneys, and agents in connection with any claim, suit, action, or demand arising out of or relating to any exercise of any right or license granted or provided to Company under this Agreement under any theory of liability (including without limitation, actions in the form of tort, warranty, strict liability, or violation of any law, and regardless of whether such action has any factual basis).

Force Majeure

Except with respect to Company's payment obligations, neither party shall be liable for delay in performance due to any cause beyond the party's reasonable control including fire, flood, strike, or other labor difficulty, act of any governmental authority, civil unrest, acts of terrorism, acts or omissions of the other party, riot, or fuel or energy shortage.

Entire Agreement

The terms and conditions set forth above represent the entire agreement of the parties and supersede all prior discussions, correspondence, and representations relating to the courses and/or training purchased by Company. These terms and conditions may not be varied except in a written agreement signed by an authorized signatory of the SEI. SEI's acceptance of a purchase order containing different terms and conditions does not modify or supersede these terms and conditions. This Agreement will be governed by Pennsylvania law without regard to conflicts of law principles.

4. Course Pricing

Before registering, please review these pricing guidelines carefully as those registration forms submitted with an incorrect payment amount will be significantly delayed. If you have questions about which category your payment falls into and need to speak with someone directly, please contact the registration department at 412-268-7388 or email courseregistration@sei.cmu.edu.

Government pricing: All U.S. government employees (federal, state, and local). This does NOT include government contractors.

Academic pricing: All employees and students of a U.S. academic/educational organization (university, college, or institute).

Industry pricing: All employees located within the United States, including government contractors, general industry, non-government employees, and those individuals not part of an academic institution.

International pricing: International rates must be paid by

  • registrants whose offices are located outside the United States
  • registrants for courses delivered outside of the United States, regardless of the registrant's office location

5. Refunds

The SEI will issue refunds (less a $75 administrative fee) for written cancellations received no less than three weeks before the course begins. All refunds are subject to a $75 administration fee. No refunds will be issued after the course begins. Refunds will not be given for courses missed due to acts of nature. 6. Transfers

By sending a written request, registrants may transfer registration fees from one SEI course offering to another that occurs within 12 months. There is no charge for the first transfer if requested no less than three weeks before the course begins. Transfer requests received less than three weeks before the course begins and all subsequent transfers will be charged a $50 administrative fee. 7. Rescheduling or Canceling Offerings

The SEI reserves the right to cancel a course offering for low enrollment, unforeseen acts of nature, or other circumstances. If a course is canceled, the SEI will notify registrants and either refund registration fees or transfer registrants to another SEI course offering of equal price at no additional charge.

8. Statement of Accessibility

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) makes every effort to provide accessible facilities and programs for individuals with disabilities. To arrange accommodations/services, please contact the SEI by email (course-info@sei.cmu.edu) or telephone (412-268-1817) at least three weeks prior to the course start date. CMU may not be able to provide an accommodation without sufficient notice.

9. Dietary Restrictions

Special meals (lunches only) can be ordered for attendees who indicate a dietary restriction (vegetarian, diabetic, or other) at the time of registration. The SEI will make every effort to accommodate these dietary requests only if indicated on the course registration form.

10. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA)

Course participant records created at the SEI in connection with SEI education and training courses are strictly confidential. Their protection is mandated under federal legislation known as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). FERPA applies to all institutions that are the recipients of federal funding from the U.S. Department of Education, which includes CMU. Since the SEI is operated and administered by CMU, the SEI is also subject to this regulatory program.
