CERT Leadership in AI for Cybersecurity Application Workshop

The Leadership in AI for Cybersecurity Workshop is the capstone course for the CERT Leadership in AI for Cybersecurity Professional Certificate Program. Throughout the program, students gain skills and knowledge in AI fundamentals; this workshop serves as an opportunity to both exercise these skills and demonstrate proficiency in the course subject matter.

This two-day immersive, instructor-led workshop guides participants through an end-to-end AI project using a cybersecurity dataset pertaining to vulnerabilities found in JavaScript source code functions on public GitHub repositories. The dataset contains approximately 12,000 records, each representing a source code function with a label that indicates whether it contains a security vulnerability and code metrics that were obtained from static analysis tools.

Students will build an end-to-end AI solution using Python, consider how the solution might be deployed to realize value for their organization, and present their work to the class for feedback. Students will work both individually and in small teams on a capstone project, mirroring the types of AI-enabled cybersecurity problems encountered in real-world environments.

Prerequisites

This workshop is designed as the capstone course for the CERT Leadership in AI for Cybersecurity Professional Certificate Program. Participants are expected to have completed the following eLearning courses before participating in the Leadership in AI for Cybersecurity Application Workshop. Please allow adequate time to complete the prerequisite courses.

  • Leading in AI for Cybersecurity (eLearning)*--estimated learning time: 11 hours
  • Fundamentals of Statistics Applied to Cybersecurity (eLearning)**--estimated learning time: 5 hours
  • Effective Communications of Technical Concepts (eLearning)--estimated learning time: 5 hours

*The Leading in AI for Cybersecurity eLearning prerequisite is waived for holders of the CERT AI for Cybersecurity Professional Certificate.

**The Fundamentals of Statistics Applied to Cybersecurity eLearning prerequisite is waived for holders of the CERT Applied Data Science for Cybersecurity Professional Certificate.

For optimum viewing, we recommend using the following browsers: Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari.

These browsers are supported on the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows 8 (or higher), OSX (last two major releases), most Linux Distributions.

These mobile operating systems are supported: iOS 9, Android 6.0.

Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome and Safari follow a continuous release policy that makes it difficult to fix a minimum version. For this reason, following the market recommendation, we will support the last two major versions of each of these browsers. Please note that, as of January 2018, we do not support Safari on Windows.

Effective Communication of Technical Concepts - eLearning

ONLINE Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering

The Effective Communication of Technical Concepts eLearning is a 10-hour course teaching approaches for communicating technical data analysis results to non-technical stakeholders. Clear, persuasive, and actionable communication to decision makers, in particular, is critical for any data analysis to generate value. We focus on data visualization and writing, including beginner-friendly hands-on coding exercises, as well as a case study lecture in cybersecurity.
